Alianza Jatun Sacha is a non-profit, private Ecuadorian NGO dedicated to conservation (of forest, aquatic, and mountain ecosystems through technical training and scientific research), investigation, environmental education, community development and the management of ecologically important habitats. The principal lines of action of the organization are: biological conservation and cultural diversity through private reserves, environmental education, the development of natural products, and research that promotes the improvement of quality of life for the people that live in the zones of influence of the foundation’s activities Tsurakù Community Reserve is located in a jungle area close to Puyo. This reserve is dedicated to conservation efforts, maintaining biodiversity and combating deforestation. There are endless ways to enjoy the jungle in this region including hiking, rafting, kayaking, visiting waterfalls, mountains, valleys and volcanoes.
1hr from Puyo is the small town of Baños, famous for it´s thermal hot springs, volcano, waterfalls, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, and white water rafting – an adventure tourist´s paradise!
The town of Baños is also home to many different restaurants, internet cafes and a laid-back atmosphere. The famous Ecuadorian Indigenous delicacy of Cuy (Guinea Pig) can be seen roasting on spits in the streets of this beautiful little town.
Volunteers must be of age 18 or above with minimum education of high school.
Volunteers with the following special skills are preferred for the placement:
-Social Worker (BSW) Social Work Student Teacher – English Forestry Environmental Science Biology Veterinary Science Sanitation System Design Renewable Energy Statistics Organic Chemistry Organic Farming Practices Perma-Culture Agriculture Alternative Agricultural Technology Agriculture Business Management Soccer Swim Kayaking Social Worker (MSW) Hiking
Volunteers can assist by doing following tasks:-
-Environmental Education -Reforestation -Teaching English -Medicinal plant garden development -Organic Gardening -Trail development -Reserve Maintenance -Community work- Data collection – Research work – awareness campaign
